Secrets & Lies, LC Rooney
This book grabbed me by the throat right away, with a tongue-in-cheek and very likeable protagonist who clearly has been in trouble before, is in trouble now, and will most certainly be in trouble again. The author is brilliant at creating perfect scenes that carry the story along and then…plop…drop you in the next crisis. I was able to follow the physical actions of the fight scenes and ….like a breath of fresh air…there’s a heroine whose head actually HURTS after she’s been hit. She’s not immune to good-looking men, and she drinks whatever is available, including tea with Bushmills’ when she’s visiting her grandmother. I am looking forward to reading a lot more about Riley Russell, feisty paralegal-turned-clandestine-investigator and Jersey girl.
Check it out for yourself. I really liked this book and I can’t wait for more from the author….Oh, she’s a Maine resident at the moment, despite the Jersey setting for her book.
